Senior Center News – Specialties offered at festival (May 13, 2015 issue)

The senior center’s next big event is participation in the Strawberry Festival, which is being sponsored by the Town of Unicoi.
It will be held on the grounds of Unicoi Elementary School on Saturday, May 16, beginning at 10 a.m. and ending at 6 p.m. At our booth, we will have strawberry shortcake, strawberry sundaes with fresh strawberries, slices of glazed strawberry pie, strawberry dippers with hot fudge dip, strawberry cupcakes and baked apple pies. As a non-profit agency, we depend on your support and hope that you will make plans to attend the festival and support the senior center.
The senior center staff and volunteers appreciate everyone who donated items for our recent rummage and bake sale as well as those who made purchases. The volunteers did a great job of organizing and displaying the items as well as handling the sales. We would not have been so successful without the help of so many. The staff and I truly appreciate your ongoing commitment to the center and being such giving team members.
We would like to invite older adults to participate in an upcoming free Wills Clinic on Tuesday, May 12. Legal Aid Services of East Tennessee will prepare basic wills as well as advanced care planning documents. No appointments will be taken, as older adults will be served on a first come, first serve basis beginning at 9:30 a.m.
For additional information, visit the senior center at 220 Union Street, Erwin or call 743-5111 Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
