Senior Center News – Grant brings free exercise opportunities (Jan. 7, 2015 issue)

As a result of a Walmart grant, the senior center will be offering free exercise classes during the entire month of January, including chair exercises, light aerobics as well as Tai Chi. We hope that you will join us and reap the benefits that exercise has to offer.
The New Year also kicks off with the option to schedule an appointment to learn the multiple uses of an iPad. Appointments are available every Wednesday throughout the month of January. If you do not have an iPad, don’t let that stop you as an iPad can be provided for your tutorial.
We have also started a beginner’s quilting class each Friday at 9:30 a.m. during the month of January. All supplies are being provided, so please come and contribute to the quilt in progress. Once the quilt is completed, it will be sold to offset the senior center’s expenses.
On Tuesday, Jan. 13, we will host a presentation at 9:30 a.m. by Dale Condon, First Tennessee Area Agency on Aging and Disability. He will discuss several computer safety tips, including precautions as you use your debit and credit cards for online purchases, creating passwords and much more.
For additional information relative to these events or to inquire about older adult options, please call the senior center at 743-5111 or visit us at 220 Union St. between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
