Senior Center News – Gospel music set for April 7 (April 1, 2015 issue)

Although we will be closed on Friday, April 3, for Good Friday, we invite you to join us on Tuesday, April 7, at 10:15 a.m. to enjoy a gospel performance by Dale and Toni Scarborough. This group will be joining us from Soddy Daisy, which is near Memphis so please come out and support their dedicated effort to entertain this community.
We would also like to advise the community and ask for your support for our upcoming rummage and bake sale, which is scheduled to begin Thursday, April 23, and go through Saturday, April 25. If you have any gently used or unwanted items, please contact the senior center so that we can schedule a drop off time.
Note that we also have a fresh shipment of pecan pieces, black walnuts as well as English walnuts available for sale. As with any of our fundraisers, we welcome your support to assist us in maintaining the services available to the older adults of Unicoi County.
In addition, the senior center has an opening for a Title V Senior Employment participant to perform custodial duties. This employment training program pays the individual during their placement to learn job skills. Participants must be 55 years old or older and have a modest income. If you desire further information, please contact Tonia Cook, Executive Director, at the senior center.
For additional information relative to these activities or to inquire about older adult (50 years and older) options, please call the senior center at 743-5111 or visit us at 220 Union St. between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
