Senior Center News – Center looks for Olympic participants (Aug. 26, 2015, issue)

The senior center would like to invite anyone who is 50 and older to participate in the First District Tennessee Senior Olympics, which will begin Sept. 9. Events include: golf; basketball free throw; three point shooting and the hot shot competition (basketball); basketball 3-on-3; shuffleboard; swimming events; bowling; pickleball; table tennis; horseshoes as well as track and field events.
If you are interested in more information, please call the center immediately at 743-5111 as the deadline to register is Tuesday, Sept. 1, as we would love to increase the competitors from Unicoi County. Also, please join us on Thursday, Aug. 27, as Bob Hechemovich, certified fitness trainer, conducts a free fitness room training, which will begin at 9:30 a.m. He will highlight the equipment available at the senior center as well as what health benefits may be expected with continued use. During this training, he will make every effort to address any questions that are presented. Since space is limited, please contact the senior center to pre-register for the free training.
