Presenting my life on a silver platter

I feel like I am bobbing up
and down in a vast sea, while
items from my life’s history fl oat
around me. I am talking about
the situation inside my doublecar
garage. Thank goodness for
those large, concealing doors.
I recently approached my
mom about simplifying her life
and moving in with me. It was
a topic I had brought up in the
past, but got a “I’m just not ready
yet,” answer. You see, it wasn’t
an easy decision for my mom to
part with the home place she
grew up in and raised me in.
There were so many memories
there and good times. It
was where she helped take care
of her siblings, helped care for
her parents and supported all of
my remodeling and landscaping
projects while I lived there. But,
the truth is, the place just got to
be too much work. You didn’t
own it – it owned you.
