Library Happenings – Library closed this week for new carpet installation (Oct. 21, 2015 issue)
The library is closed this week, but that doesnt mean the stacks are quiet. Bookcases are being moved, old carpet is coming up and our new carpet is going down. Story wont be getting many catnaps this week! If everything goes according to plan, we should be open as usual next Monday. If things go better than expected, we may be open by Friday or Saturday. Just be sure to call before you come. I can hardly wait to see the result of all the hard work that is going on now. We hope youll come visit us next week and see for yourself!
If you have books or other library materials with a due date any time this week, dont fret. All of those dates have been adjusted to Monday, Oct. 26, in order to give you time to return them. We are collecting books from the drop boxes located at the library and at Town Hall in Unicoi as usual. Since all of our computers have been disconnected, we may not be able to check them in or renew any items until we are open again.
Halloween Programs
Get out the glitter, glue, ribbons and rhinestones. It is high time to start working on costumes for our childrens Halloween party. This will be a drop-in affair, where kids will circle the stations and then go on to trick-or-treating or other activities. We will be open from 3 to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31, so choose the time that will be best for you. We look forward to welcoming a passel of princesses, pirates and pumpkins. If what I have been told is correct, we already have a gaggle of ghosts haunting the library, but a few more substantial ghoulies would ice the cake!
For Teens
Our Teen Advisory Group will have their party on Friday, Oct. 30. The fun will begin at 6:30 p.m., with pizza and a Halloween movie. Any teens who might be interested in joining our TAG should call the library at 743-6533, for more information. Be sure to check our Unicoi County Public Library Kids and Teens Facebook page for the latest information about all of our youth programming.
For Adults
Since spooky fun is not the exclusive province of children, adults are invited to come to the library at 6 p.m., on Thursday, Oct. 29 for a Halloween-themed movie, popcorn and candy. If you would like to do so, feel free to bring your favorite soft drink in a spill-resistant container.
