Jupiter offers reminder of famous Christmas star

“When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.” – Matthew 2:10 KJV
When I heard of the event happening this Christmas in the night sky, I couldn’t help but be reminded of the Christmas story from the Bible. The wise men that came from the east, following a star, seeking he that is born King of the Jews.
On Christmas night, if you happen to be looking skyward, you may notice a brilliant silvery star hovering just above the waxing gibbous moon. However, this object is not a star at all!
What you are observing is the largest planet in our solar system, Jupiter. On Christmas night, Jupiter will serve as a sort of Christmas ornament, hanging in our sky. This is just another gift from above. One that reminds me of the reason for the season.
If you haven’t heard or read the original Christmas story in a while, find your Bible, and read this story. Not only for yourself, but share it with your children and families. The account can be found in Matthew chapters 1 and 2, and Luke chapters 1 and 2. I wish all of you a very blessed and joyous Christmas!
