Following is a recipe from Atlas May and Holidays Through the Year with Seviers.
This cheese ball could be used as an edible centerpiece for the dinner table.
EASTER CHIC CHEESE BALL
2 (8-ounce) cream cheese, room temperature
1 1/2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded, plus additional for rolling
2 tablespoons minced shallot
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/8 teaspoon hot sauce
Coarse salt, to taste
White pepper, to taste
1 almond nut
Put first 8 ingredients into mixing bowl and blend thoroughly. Form into an egg-like chic shape and refrigerate until firm, about an hour. Before serving, roll the ball in shredded cheese (this will look like feathers).
Use a whole almond for the chicks beak, raisins for eyes and slivers of carrot for the feet. Serve with crackers.
