Director expresses thanks to board members

Letter to the Editor

Jan. 23-29, 2022, is School Board Appreciation Week in Tennessee. Unicoi County Schools is joining public school districts from across the state to celebrate School Board Appreciation Week and honor local board members for their commitment to our community and its children.

Even though we are making a special effort during the last week of January to show appreciation for our school board members, we recognize their contributions reflect a year-round effort on their part.

Each member contributes his or her own strengths to the District, and these different contributions and perspectives make them a formidable group. We are fortunate to have such a dedicated group of people leading our school district. I want to thank them for their leadership, their commitment to our students and our community, and their support of our mission to continually improve the education system for our students. Our district is without a doubt better because we have them on our team!

Please join me this week in thanking our school board members, Steve Willis, Cathy Thomas, Glenn Fisher, Steve Scott, Tammy Tipton and Alan Foster, for their service to our school community.

John English,

Unicoi County Schools Director
