I recently attended meetings
of the city and county boards as
they held budget work sessions.
The responsibility of those
boards is not a position I envy.
We have many wonderful organizations
with monetary needs
to function and keep the doors
open. We also have many wonderful
city and county employees
from offi ce holders and staff
to fi remen and police offi cers.
They certainly need to be adequately
paid for the skills and
I was at the meeting to represent
the Chamber of Commerce,
which I am president of
this year. The Chamber was one
group that was in danger of having
funds cut from the city and
the county. Unfortunately, the
Chamber often goes unnoticed
for the many contributions to
the community and the marketing
and public relations provided.
