A local music and entertainment venue is set to celebrate the opening of another school year by giving local youth some music and fun to ease the transition back into the classroom.
The second annual Youth Explosion will take place at Tennessee Hills Mountain Melodies from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 22.
Organizer Barbara Desso told The Erwin Record that the event is a great way for the youth of Unicoi County to come out and enjoy an evening of music and fellowship.
“The event is important for the youth to have fellowship with other local youth while having the opportunity to draw closer to God through the ministry of song and testimony from our guest singers and speakers,” Desso said.
This year’s music headliners are making waves in the contemporary Christian rock scene.
“We are so excited to welcome our musical guest, T Minus Glory,” Desso said. “We will also have the Recovery Soldiers Ministry on hand as well. We are so blessed to have Tammy Bouton who was able to secure our talent.”
This is a family-friendly event and Desso hopes to repeat the success of the inaugural event.
“Last year we had over a hundred kids,” Desso said. “There is no admission fee and no cost for food or drinks. Games will be played as well with prizes. Parents are welcome to attend as well.”
Masks are suggested but not required.
“There is no mask mandate as it will be held outside,” Desso said. “Masks will be optional.”
