From Staff Reports
Connor Bear Cleveland, 22, of Unicoi, was scheduled to appear in court to face second-degree murder charges on Thursday, July 1, but the court appearance was moved to Thursday, July 15.
The date change was necessary because of a change in Cleveland’s legal representation.
“Mr. Cleveland has retained Jim Bowman to represent him,” said Unicoi County Assistant District Attorney Todd Hull. “They requested more time to meet and it was granted.”
Cleveland had initially been represented by the public defender’s office.
Cleveland has been charged in the shooting last week in Unicoi that claimed the life of 18-year-old Jessica Hope Carlton.
The Erwin Record will report more details as they become available.
