The Unicoi County Middle School basketball teams recently completed a busy two week stretch on the courts around Northeast Tennessee.
The Blue Devil varsity team remained undefeated on the season during their two weeks of action.
First up for the Blue Devils was a trip to John Sevier Middle School on Monday, Nov. 12, where UCMS came away with a 50-23 victory.
Jacob Smith recorded a double-double against Sevier with 16 points and 14 rebounds.
Brett Lemmon led all the scorers with 17 points, with 12 points coming off four shots from behind the arc.
The junior varsity Blue Devils defeated Sevier, 35-29.
On Thursday, Nov. 15, the Blue Devils picked up another win with a 55-36 defeat over Ross Robinson.
Two Blue Devils recorded double-doubles during the night. Dylan Putman led all the scorers with 18 points and 10 boards. Point guard Trevor Hensley hauled in 10 points along with 10 boards. Chase McNabb nearly clocked in a double-double eight points and 10 rebounds.
The junior varsity Blue Devils lost to Robinson, 40-25.
On Thursday, the Devils lost to Ross Robinson by the score of 40-25. Troy Podvin hauled in nine points against Robinson, while Bryant Strother tallied in eight points respectfully.
The Lady Devils (3-2) came away with a key victory over Church Hill on Monday, Nov. 19, against Church Hill Middle School. UCMS won the game, 49-35.
The junior varsity Lady Devils defeated Church Hill 49-9. Padgett led the scorers with 16 points. Kaylee Hendrickson scored eight points.
Neelee Griffith and Keelie Hall led the Lady Devils in scoring with 17 points each. Halie Padgett came away with eight points, while Ashley Edwards, Kenedy King and Mackenzie Huskins all chipped in a bucket. Rachel Lynch also sank a free-throw during the victory.
Ross Robinson defeated the Lady Devils, 40-29, on Nov. 15 at UCMS. King was able to lead all scorers with eight points, while Padgett chipped in seven.

The first game of the week on Monday, Nov. 12, saw the UCMS Lady Devils dispatch John Sevier, 45-17. Hall and Savannah Lefever chipped in eight points each during the win. Griffith and Padgett scored seven points each.
UCMS picked up their first win of the season on Friday, Nov. 9, with a 31-20 win against Colonial Heights. Padgett hauled in 13 points in the victory.
Against Sevier, the junior varsity Lady Devils picked up a 30-17 win. King was the leading scorer with nine points.
On Friday, Nov. 9, against Colonial Heights, UCMS knocked off Colonial Heights, 33-18. Padgett led all scorers with 15 points while Huskins hit six points in the win.
The squads from Unicoi County Middle School opened this week with games against Liberty Bell Middle School on Monday, Nov. 26, after The Erwin Records press deadline.
The Blue Devils will be in action at UCMS against T.A. Dugger on Thursday, Nov. 29, while the Lady Devils will travel to Elizabethton to face the T.A. Dugger Lady Cyclones.
