Varsity Jr. Blue Devils defeat Church Hill

Offense was in abundance for coach Ken Hilliard and his Unicoi County Middle School Jr. Blue Devil varsity basketball team last week in Erwin.
UCMS put the pedal to the metal with a 52-38 victory over Church Hill on Thursday, Dec. 3, at home with a host of players reaching the scorebook.
Brock Thompson, Boone Reed and Nicholas Lynch got the Jr. Blue Devils going early by securing 11 points in the first quarter. The trio, along with Brett Lingerfelt and Caleb Adkins, kept the attack going into the halftime by scoring 24 points heading into intermission.
The Jr. Blue Devils saw a defensive rally by Church Hill in the third quarter, which limited them to just six points; however, the offense exploded in the fourth quarter with 22 points to secure the victory.
Adkins led the varsity team with a game-high 17-point effort. Thompson added 16 points to join his teammate in double figures.
Reed added six points, while Lynch tossed in a pair of buckets. Lingerfelt, Mason Barcel and Noah Tilson added a 3-pointer each in the victory.
