Unicoi Raiders join other teams

It’s an entirely new season for the adult baseball league in Greene County.
Following up a three-year stretch of winning Greene County Adult Baseball League titles, the Unicoi Raiders are currently under new management and based in the Johnson City area.
Circumstances arose during the off-season, and while the Raiders may be on a sabbatical, parts of the old team may be rekindled in another squad, according to former Raiders’ skipper Andy Slagle.
“Situations happened that I really had no control over,” Slagle said in regards to the Raiders’ sabbatical. “They’re under new-management now and I wish them the best of luck.”
The Erwin crew could potentially be considered to join up with the Tennessee Indians, Slagle said, as the season is currently in its infancy.
“I’m already on the team,” Slagle said. “Coty (VanHoy), Logan (Rice) and D.W. (Whitson) are all looking to join up after their college seasons are over with. There’s also the possibility of a few more from the area joining up as the season goes along.
