Unicoi County Raiders win over Tri-Cities Diablos

The winning streak continues.
The Unicoi Raiders (4-0) kept the impressive win streak this year by defeating the Tri-Cities Diablos for a second time this season, with the score of 11-1 on Tuesday, June 7, at Chuckey Doak High School’s baseball field.
“The guys played great out there,” team manager Andy Slagle said after the game. “The guys just hit the ball well and continued their way of playing this year. I’m proud of them.”
The big bats belong to Ricky Morgan and Justin Reising, who combined for seven of the Raiders 11 RBIs during the game, that included three combined home run between the two.
“Those two had a heck of a game,” Slagle said. “(Reising) showed off his power and Ricky’s just continuing that streak. It’s incredible.”
Morgan went 2-4 during the game with two homeruns (five overall during the season) and four RBIs (upping his slugging percentage to 1.917 percent), Reising finised 2-3 with three RBIs including the homerun.
The Raiders had a new face on the mound during the afternoon, ETSU Buc and former Blue Devil standout, Logan Rice, who picked up first win of the season, throwing a complete game for the Unicoi squad.
“Having (Logan) in the lineup for us is great,” Slagle said. “He showed what he could do on the mound for us today, it’s good to have him come back for a second season.”
Rice finished up the game with 11 strikeouts, a walk, and offensive finished 2-3 with an RBI.
Unicoi’s Justin Bennet, along with Boo Morrow and Jason Tilson wrapped up the game with a run drove in each.
The Raiders were looking for win number five on Monday, when the guys from Erwin took on the Greene County Patriots at Chuckey-Doak’s baseball field after the Erwin Record’s press deadline.
