Last week at Gentry Stadium, the Unicoi County High School football team held its annual Blue Devil Football Camp for aspiring Blue Devils in the community. The camp concluded on Friday, June 15.
The camp lasted a week under the direction of the UCHS coaching staff. Current and former Blue Devil football players also helped with the camp.
“We had a great week of camp,” UCHS head coach Jerad Huskins said. “We had almost 60 kids … They came out and worked hard and had fun.
“Future Blue Devils working with current and past Blue Devils, competing in drills, competitions and playing 7 on 7 games – it was a great week of football.”
Campers spent the week learning the fundamentals of the game from the coaches and players. Each camper received a trophy for completing the camp.
The UCHS football team has a busy off-season in store, with a 7-on-7 camp and scrimmages on their schedule as they prepare for the 2012 football season, which begins on Aug. 17.
