Coach Gary Howards Unicoi County High School cross country squads came through with huge strides during the Raider Run last week.
The Blue Devils and Lady Devils participated in the always highly anticipated Raider Run meet held at Sullivan North High School on Thursday, Sept. 20.
The Lady Devils participated in a relatively small group during the meet, with only four schools participating and 46 runners taking part in the race. Schools that participated in the meet included Sullivan East, Sullivan Central, Cherokee and Volunteer. The Lady Devils finished fourth with a team score of 83.
Haley Adkins broke through the top 10 to bring in a seventh place finish with a time of 24:37.
Alex Edwards narrowly missed a top-ten finish; she finished in 11th place with a time of 25:05. Ashleigh Edwards finished 20th with a time of 26:29. Allison Tuttle finished 22nd with a time of 26:36.
Stephanie Richardson clocked in at 30:59; Kamille Harris brought in a time of 31:09; Lorelei Norman and Hannah Fender finished with times of 32:20 and 32:36, respectively.
The Blue Devils flexed their muscles during their portion of the run. The squad placed fourth out of eight teams. Howards boys brought in a team score of 110 out of 70 runners.
Jeremiah Powers clocked in a seventh place finish in the boys competition with a time of 19:41. Sophomore Austin Hendrickson hauled in a 17th place finish with a time of 20:17.
Seniors Ryan Waldrop and Austin Garrabrant did their duties of pack running by placing 25th and 28th, with times of 21:04 and 21:21, respectively.
Nic Hanley, Davis Webb and Issac Chrisman finished with times of 23:26, 24:26 and 25:41. Thomas Moore, Andrew Huff and Corey Keever rounded out the finishes for the Blue Devil runners.
