Robinson defeats Jr. Blue Devils

The Unicoi County Middle School Jr. Blue Devil football dropped their season opener against Ross Robinson, 30-12, on Monday, Aug. 18, at J.Fred Johnson Stadium in league play. The game was previously scheduled to be played at Gentry Stadium but was shifted due to final preparations of field repair.
The debut for UCMS head coach Jason Hensley saw some team members make some key plays.
First-year team member Brett Strother hit pay dirt from 67 yards out on a touchdown drive. Seventh grade quarterback Tanner VanHoy connected with wide receiver Austin O'Dell on a 57-yard touchdown pass.
Things don't get easier for the squad as the season hits full throttle. UCMS will travel to face Science Hill’s feeder school, Liberty Bell, on Tuesday, Aug. 26, after The Erwin Record's press deadline.
