From Staff Reports

In a press statement released last week, Unicoi County High School Athletic Director Chris Bogart announced that Ray Webb has been named the new head coach for the UCHS softball program.

“Coach Webb has been on the Lady Devil staff for the past seven years serving as the varsity assistant,” Bogart noted in the release. “Prior to that coach Webb worked in a volunteer capacity for eight years. He has served many roles on the staff with his latest being handling the Lady Devil pitchers.”

Bogart noted that Webb has also coached softball in Unicoi County for nearly two decades working at levels from Little League to travel ball.

“We feel confident that coach Webb is the right person to take over the program for Coach Grady Lingerfelt,” Bogart stated. “His knowledge of the game and experience in the dugout will help continue the winning tradition that has been a trademark of our Lady Devil teams.”

Lingerfelt retired earlier in May after serving as the head softball coach for 18 seasons.
