Preparations underway for upcoming season
The season is still a few months away, but the Unicoi County Little League (UCLL) is off and running to get an early start on the upcoming season.
We hope to continue and expand off the success from last year, UCLL president Chris Bogart said. We had over 300 kids participate in the program last year and were looking to see an increase to the numbers.
The UCLL has several improvement plans for the upcoming season, including a new field in the works for the youngsters to use.
Were in the process of expanding, Bogart said. We leased some land near the fieldhouse to get an extra field added. Itll be used as a practice field, and used for T-ball.
Were also going to do more things as the year goes along to help the kids work on the fundamentals of the game. Were real excited to see what this year has in store.
While changes are coming to the leagues facilities, the UCLL would also like to see an increase in the number of umpires, according to Bogart.
