Preparations underway for football season
Football time is closing in on Tennessee
and the future Blue Devils
are ready to storm the stadiums
across the area.
The Erwin Junior Athletic Association
(EJAA) concluded their final
scheduled registration on Saturday,
July 20, in Erwin with high marks,
according to league president David
Bell.
We had a lot of numbers come out
for the registration, he said. Our
numbers are looking to be up from
last year with what we have now.
Weve averaged around 100 kids in
the past couple of years and well be
over that this year.
The league saw over 40 kids sign
up for football among the Mighty-
Mites, Grasscutter and Junior Pee-
Wee divisions. The cheerleaders
also saw a bump in numbers with 31
girls joining the organization.
There is also time for members of
the community to allow their children
to sign up for the league, Bell
said. While Saturday was the last
official registration date, the league
is allowing anyone that may have
missed any signups to join the EJAA
by the end of July.
Well still have time for people
to join, he said. The farthest we
can push it is toward the end of the
month. Thats about as far as we can
go with us having to order jerseys
and other items for the start of the
season.

EJAA can contact the league online

Practices were slated to begin on
Monday, July 22, after The Erwin
Records press deadline.
