Park to host hiking excursion to Flint Mountain Shelter

Join Ranger Jeff Sweeney on a round-trip hike from the parking lot of Lamar Alexander Rocky Fork State Park to Flint Mountain Shelter on Saturday, June 26.

This hike will be eight miles round-trip and is intended for moderate to advanced hikers. Hikers will start at 8 a.m. at the Rocky Fork parking lot and follow Rocky Fork, Flint Creek, the AT Access and Appalachian Trails all the way to Flint Mountain Shelter where they will stop to have lunch. Attendees should bring their own lunch or snacks as well as enough water to stay hydrated on the trail. 

Along the route they will see scenic cascades, large mature trees and beautiful bridges. The hike should conclude at mid-afternoon. There is no charge, but donations to the park are optional. For more information, call (423) 735-9289 or email [email protected]
