Off the Field – New football regulations approved (April 22, 2015 issue)

Earlier this month, the TSSAA announced new high school football regulations for the upcoming season during a meeting held at Hardin Valley High School.
The new rules state that there can only be three full-contact practices per week, not consecutively, and must only last 30 minutes during that time.
New changes were presented to the TSSAA after a report issued by the National Federation of State High School Associations to look at ways to minimize head damage.

The high school track and field postseason is here and Unicoi County is ready to scorch some asphalt in the meet scheduled for Thursday, April 23, at Sullivan North High School.
Head coach Megan Davis has a handful of athletes that could qualify for the next level of the postseason. The team is led by senior CJ Wells and sophomore Stephanie Wisse. Underclassmen also patrol the track with the likes of Megan Todd, Jose Ortiz, Cameron Higgins, Katie Crain and Kaitlyn Tilson looking to make noise after successful stretches this season.

Kudos to the Bristol fans.
While Bristol Motor Speedway stayed drenched, Matt Kenseth was able to record his first win at the track.
But a major congratulations goes out to all the individuals who make an effort to stick it out through the monsoon-like weather to support their favorite drivers.
