Thanksgiving tournament time is here for the Unicoi County High School basketball teams.
Tournament play began on Tuesday, Nov. 24, for both programs. The Blue Devils are competing in the Hardee’s Classic at David Crockett High School. The Lady Blue Devils are playing at Sullivan East High School.
Updates from each contest will be featured online. Photos and a recap from both events will be featured in the Dec. 2 issue of The Erwin Record.

The Maryville College Lady Scots got off to a hot start over the weekend, earning their first two wins of the season.
Maryville was ranked No. 13 in their division, as of Saturday, Nov. 21.
Former UCHS Lady Blue Devil Chelsey Harness is part of their roster.

Northeast Tennessee was quick to rally around one of the final remaining teams in the TSSAA football playoffs.
Hampton High School ran rampant through the Class 2A quarterfinal playoff game against Grace Christian Academy with a 61-21 victory on Friday, Nov. 20 at J.C. Campbell Stadium.
The local rivalries always make the local sports scene intense and fun to follow, but local schools showing support for the Carter County ball club symbolizes what small-town communities are all about.
Whether it is Unicoi County, Carter County, Greene County or Washington County, the support in the postseason by rival schools when a local team faces an opponent from out of the area is something to admire.
Anyone interested in catching the last local football team in action, the Bulldogs host Marion County with a trip to the state championship on the line at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 27, in Carter County.
