Two Unicoi County Middle School Jr. Lady Blue Devil basketball players were misidentified in last week’s article. Kaitlin Bailey and Taylor Thomas were the athletes.

The Erwin Knights are still recruiting football players, according to head coach Andy Slagle. Any individual over the age of 18 is invited to join the team. A $60 player fee that places you on the team, Slagle said.
Slagle also has a pair of fundraisers on tap for the team. On Saturday, June 8, the team will present a concert at Unicoi County High School featuring Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door.

King University men’s basketball coach George Pitts was still in search of career win No. 1,000 prior to The Erwin Record’s press deadline.

The UCHS basketball teams will be on the shelf this week, but will be back in action next week.
The Blue Devils will be participating in the Knox Bearden Super 16 tournament. The Lady Devils will be in the Johnson City Honda Invitational held at Daniel Boone High School.
Schedules for each event will be posted online as soon as they become available.

Northeast Tennessee got proper representation in the East versus West football all-star game last week with Elizabethton running back Ethan Thomas receiving offensive MVP honors for the Tennessee team.
