Can sports have a special impact on life?
The question may seem far-fetched to some, but in certain situations, sports can be that outlet people are looking for to receive comfort. By doing something they love and have a passion for on a daily basis people can escape the stress of their daily lives.
Ill be the first to admit I have an unhealthy obsession with sports. Whether its University of Tennessee athletics or covering local events around the area, Ive honestly lucked out to be in a situation where I get to cover certain things I really have passion for and have since I could walk and talk.
Knowing the positive impact sports can have on an individuals life, it is heart-wrenching to see a potential decline in the number of students participating in school athletics. This applies not only to Northeast Tennessee, but around the country.
With the type of society that we live in, certain kids would much rather sit at home and play video games or watch television instead of heading outside with a football or hitting up the basketball courts.
Sports isnt something for everybody this is common knowledge to everyone, it just depends if the interest is there. Although I must say, for me it is a lot more fun to be the guy or gal running with a ball or shooting a ball in real life, compared to controlling them on a game.
Friday night will be a sight to see for football fans across the area as the Elizabethton Cyclones come to Gentry Stadium for their annual Three Rivers Conference clash with the Unicoi County High School Blue Devils. The game will be taking place during the annual Apple Festival in Erwin. Be sure to bring the whole family football and Apple Festival weekend make a great combination.
A special kudos needs to be sent out to the EJAA for another successful season.
David Bell and the rest of the organization have done a tremendous job getting the support out for the football teams and cheerleaders.
