New ticket policy in effect for UCHS home football games to COVID-19 pandemic

From Staff Reports

The Unicoi County High School football team is scheduled to open the 2020 season on Friday, Aug. 21, at Gentry Stadium against the South Greene Rebels. Gates will open at 6 p.m. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, fans planning to attend the game will have to acquire tickets differently than in years past as no tickets will be sold at the gate this season, according to UCHS officials.

Gentry Stadium will operate at 33 percent capacity and only 1,000 tickets will be available for each home football game.

All premium (reserved chair back) season tickets will be honored and unaffected by these changes, according to the school.

All general admission season tickets sold will count towards the 1,000 ticket maximum each week.

Football player families, cheerleader families, and band member families will receive first priority for tickets on the Monday prior to each home game. These must be purchased and paid for by the individual student by the end of the day on Monday.

Beginning the Tuesday afternoon prior to each home game, all remaining tickets will be available for purchase online at: www.gofan.co. Tickets will remain for sale online until the 1,000 ticket maximum has been reached.

This will be the only way to purchase tickets for the rest of that week. These tickets will be available to purchase for both home and away spectators wishing to attend UCHS games at Gentry Stadium on Friday night.

Children 5 and under will be admitted free of charge. Children 6 and up will be required to purchase a ticket for entry.

Only TSSAA/TACA passes will be accepted, and for the individual cardholder only.

When entering the Gentry Stadium, fans will have their temperatures checked as a precaution against COVID-19. According to school officials, if your temperature is above 100.4 you will not be allowed to enter.

Officials said that everyone must wear masks and need to be conscious of social distancing from non-family members while inside the stadium.
