Junior varsity team defeats Greeneville

An early deficit was too much for the Unicoi County Middle School Jr. Lady Devil basketball team.
The Greeneville Middle School Jr. Lady Greene Devils were able to open the first period with a 19-3 lead and went on to score the victory in Erwin on Thursday, Nov. 20.
The Lady Devils battled for head coach Alisha Mainer rattling off 11 and 14 points in the second and third periods, respectively.
Down in the paint, Allee Griffith and Nickolette Ferguson each got into double figures with 10 points each. Chloe Powers added a 3-for-4 effort from the charity stripe.
Guard Kaylee Hendrickson showed her hot hand, drilling three shots from behind the arc to finish with nine points.
In the junior varsity contest, the Jr. Lady Devils were able to score a 42-26 decision against Greeneville.
Ally Bailey led the way with 12 points.
The UCMS teams were in action after The Erwin Record’s press deadline against Church Hill on Monday, Nov. 25.
Looking ahead, the Jr. Lady Devils are scheduled to host T.A. Dugger Middle School on Tuesday, Dec. 2. Varsity action is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. The junior varsity game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
The teams will then host Liberty Bell on Thursday, Dec. 4. The junior varsity game is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m., with varsity action to follow.
