Jr. Lady Devil teams sweep Vance Middle School

It was domination from start to finish for the Unicoi County Middle School Jr. Lady Blue Devil basketball teams during their home sweep on Tuesday, Dec. 1.
UCMS went the distance in the varsity contest against Vance Middle School, earning a 48-9 win in Erwin, while the junior varsity upended Vance by a 33-15 margin to open the night.
First year head coach Lauren Trivette saw her varsity squad assert their dominance early by shutting out Vance, 14-0, in the first quarter.
The visitors were able to score a field goal in the second, while UCMS took a 20-2 lead into halftime. The Jr. Lady Blue Devils continued the onslaught in the second half to come away with the victory.
Kaitlin Bailey scored 10 points in the first half en route to a game-high 17 points. Nickolette Ferguson tallied in nine points with Ashtan Vance close behind with eight points. Caroline Podvin added a pair of buckets.
Taylor Sanders and Jayla Stockfelt added a pair of 3-pointers, while Leah Edney and Kaylia Street tacked on two points each.
