Erwin native chosen for all-state team

An Erwin resident has made a name for himself on the gridiron.

Bryson Tolley, who finished his senior season for the Science Hill football team this fall, has been chosen for the 2016 Tennessee State Sportswriters 6A All-State Football Team. This is the second time Tolley was chosen for this honor; he was also named to the team following the 2015 season.

During the 2016 season, Tolley had 126 tackles for the Hilltoppers. He had 13 tackles for a loss and two quarterback sacks. He forced five fumbles, recovered one for a touchdown and had an interception for a 74-yard touchdown.

The TSWA 6A defensive team also included: Chris Onwumere, Oakland; Ellis Chapman, Hardin Valley; Matt Young, Maryville; Quinton Bohanna, Cordova; T.D. Blackmon, Maryville; Aubrey Miller, Whitehaven; Jackson Cauthen, Oakland; Theo Jackson, Overton; Kaleb Oliver, Oakland; Gentry Bonds, Riverdale; Rayshad Williams, Whitehaven; JaCoby Stevens, Oakland; and Adam Williams, Wilson Central.

The TSWA 6A offensive team included: Cole Copeland, Bradley Central; Dylan Hopkins, Maryville; Kylan Watkins, Whitehaven; Master Teague, Blackman; Lameric Tucker, Bradley Central; Edward Johnson, Cordova; Trey Knox, Blackman; Max Wray, Franklin; D.J. Delfendahl, Mt. Juliet; Elijah Dobbins, Oakland; K’Rojhn Calbert, Warren County; Anthony Geter, Whitehaven; Jordan Ervin, Maryville; and Jacob Smith, Siegel.

Bryson is the son of Chris and Tootie Tolley.
