EJAA plans free football, cheer clinic

The Erwin Junior Athletic Association will host its first annual EJAA Football and Cheer Clinic on Saturday, June 29.
According to EJAA President David Bell, the clinic is free of charge and will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Unicoi County High School track field. The camp is open to children from 5-13 years of age.
The hours of the football camp will be divided into offense and defense, with offensive instruction taking place from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., and defensive instruction taking place from 1-4 p.m.
Bell said football instruction will be provided by EJAA coaches, former collegiate athletes and current and former UCHS Blue Devil football players.
The cheerleading camp hours will be divided by age group. The 5-8 year-olds will be receiving instruction from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The 9-13 year-olds will receive instruction from 1-4 p.m.
Football players and cheerleading planning to attend the clinic are asked to arrive 15 minutes early to complete paperwork.
Sign-ups for all football and cheerleading teams will also be held on June 29. Practice for the league is scheduled to begin on July 22, with the season beginning with the league jamboree on Aug.17.
Concessions will be available during the clinic.
