As it has done much of the spring sports season, weather led to the rescheduling of a recent event.
The Unicoi County High School track and field team was set to compete in the Three Rivers Conference meet at Elizabethton on Thursday, April 26, but heavy rain forced coordinators to cancel it. According to UCHS head coach Megan Davis, the meet has been rescheduled for Monday, May 7, beginning at 4 p.m. at Elizabethton.
The entire Blue Devil and Lady Devil teams had their last meet before the conference when they traveled to Science Hill on Tuesday, May 1, after the press deadline for this issue.
Only those athletes who qualify will be invited to compete in the Ballad Tri-Cities Sports Relays – at Dobyns-Bennett on Friday, May 4. Davis expects to have a few UCHS representatives at that competition.
The important sectional meet will be held at Science Hill on May 12, according to Davis. UCHS athletes will qualify for this competition based on their results each season. The top four competitors from each event will advance to the state meet, which will be held in Murfreesboro from May 23-25.
