The Unicoi County Lady Devils have a new head basketball coach. Director of Schools John English announced the hire of Brandon Broyles Wednesday afternoon, June 23. Broyles will replace former coach Kerri King who resigned earlier this month.

“We look forward to Coach Broyles leading our Lady Devil basketball program and are extremely excited for him to join Unicoi County Schools,” English said.

In 2015-2016 the Huskies eclipsed the 20-win mark for the first time in more than two decades. The 27-8 mark the Huskies had in 2016-2017 is the fourth best record in school history. Broyles led the Huskies to the regional tournament for the first time in 14 years. The team went on to qualify for the regional tournament three years in a row and made the regional semifinals for the first time in 14 years, and made it to the regional semifinals back-to-back years.

Broyles was named the Greeneville Sun’s All-County Coach of the Year two years in a row in 2015-2016 & 2016-2017.
