Blue Devils too much for ‘Horns, Pioneers last week

Behind a 30-point performance from Connor Simpson, the Unicoi County High School Blue Devils wrapped up last week with a decisive 67-62 win over David Crockett on Saturday, Jan. 11 in Washington County. It was the third victory over the Pioneers for UCHS this season.
The Blue Devils used an entire team effort, led by Simpson (21 points) and Nic Chambers (11 points), to record a 73-47 win against Johnson County on Friday, Jan. 10.
The win over Johnson County sets up an important clash between the Blue Devils (16-4, TRC 4-1) and Sullivan South on Saturday, Jan. 18.
It was an important win on Saturday, entering a key week of games, according to UCHS head coach John English.
“They always say it’s tough to beat a talented team three times in a row,” English said. “Crockett is always a tough place to play at and I thought our guys adjusted well and we put ourselves in a good position to enter next week.”
