Blue Devils take home district crown

Unicoi County (19-14) came away with district titles honors after defeating Elizabethton, 8-3, in the championship game held at Milligan College.
Elizabethton held a 3-2 lead until Austin Arrowood belted his fifth homerun of the year, driving in Ethan Rice who was aboard on a single that put Unicoi on top 4-3.
Unicoi followed up with a Coty Vanhoy two-run RBI single that held the lead at 6-3 going into the bottom of the sixth inning.
Unicoi's Nick Rogers and Gavin Whitson would each score on errors in the seventh to wrap up the game for the Devils.
Gibson (8-1), who came away with the tournament MVP honors, held the Cyclones to three runs while striking out two batters.
Second basemen Hunter Goddard drove Unicoi's first two runs that spearheaded the offensive efforts for coach Charlie Baxter's squad.
Rice, Arrowood and Timmy Graham received all-tournament honors.
Unicoi will play at home on Monday, May 16, against Grainger, with first pitch scheduled for 6 p.m.
