The Unicoi County High School boys soccer team opened the 2020 season with two victories in Erwin last week.
First, the Blue Devils defeated Hampton 7-1 on March 10, then defeated KACHEA 6-0 on March 12.
“We played well both games,” head coach Justin Ciralsky told The Erwin Record. “It has been a rocky start to the season with two scrimmages not going in our favor. The boys have worked hard and their hard work is paying off.”
Again Hampton, Bryan Espinoza scored three goals, Miguel Vasquez scored two, Jony Perez and Daniel Raygoza each scored 1. Against KACHEA Vasquez, Raygoza, Jesus Perez, Jose Ramirez, Markus Acevedo and Ivan Luquin each scored one goal.
Last week’s games will be the last at least until after April 13 as the Unicoi County School System has closed due to coronavirus concerns.
“We are looking forward to growing throughout the season. We know we are young, but excited to put some work in,” Ciralsky said. “Unfortunately, we don’t think we will get to play much of this season.”
