Blue Devil soccer team defeats Elizabethton
From Staff Reports
In their first year back at Unicoi County High School, the Blue Devil soccer team continues to rattle off memorable moments.
The Blue Devils (6-4-1, 5-3) knocked off Elizabethton 4-2 on Tuesday, April 26, at Citizens Bank Stadium to stall the Cyclones’ opportunity to pull a clean sweep in the District 1-A/AA pool.
Sam Murillo led the charge with a hat trick, including two penalty kicks, while Jose Ortiz added a goal in the second half.
With the victory, the Blue Devils are in contention for second place in the district thanks to University High’s win over Sullivan South on Tuesday. The Blue Devils will need to win out for second place and the opportunity to host a regional semifinal game at Bryant Field in Erwin.
