Wilma Jean Laws, 70, of Erwin, died Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at her residence. She was born in Knoxville, and was a daughter of the late Ralph Buss and Ollie Mae Dockins. She moved to Erwin with her husband, Gene Sonny Sonny Laws, in 1958 and later moved to Charleston, S.C.,
where she worked for the U.S. Government in the Naval Ship Yard until 2001. She retired to Erwin
in 2001, where she was a lifelong member of Love Chapel Christian Church.
She and her family enjoyed camping in their motor homes, family fun out on the water, and staying at the lake in Charleston, S.C., where they loved to ride jet skis. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her brother, Clarence Dockins and her step-brother Robert
Oliver. Survivors include a daughter: Becky Hardin and husband, Norman of Erwin; sons: David Wayne Laws of Jonesborough, Mark Allen Laws of Erwin; grandchildren: Bethany Laws of Jonesborough, Eric Hardin of Charlotte, N.C.; sisters: Edna Miller of Knoxville, Mildred Bohanan
of Knoxville, Kathy Robertson of Alabama and a step-brother: Bill Oliver.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 9, 2012, at 2 p.m., in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. The
Rev. Jimmy Dockins officiated. Interment followed in the Mausoleum Chapel of Evergreen Cemetery.
Valley Funeral Home was in charge.
