William Coy Edwards, age 80, of Erwin, passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at the Johnson City Medical Center. Coy was a native of Bandana, NC and a son of the late William Rassie Edwards and Bunia Hampton Collins. Mr. Edwards served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He worked for South Side Oil Company and formerly attended Sweetwater Church of God. Coy loved to hunt and fish as well as enjoyed the outdoors. In addition to his parents, Mr. Edwards is preceded in death by his wife Marie Winslow Banner Edwards, sister Brenda Collins, brothers Harvey Collins, Sherman Collins, Dewey Collins, and Luther Arwood.

A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family of William Coy Edwards will be held at 10:00 AM and continue until 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 17, 2015 in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. A military graveside committal service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, January 19, 2015 in Mountain Home National Cemetery. Those who will attend will meet at 9:55 AM at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Bishop John Edwards will officiate. Serving as pallbearers will be Raymond Mann, David Harris, James Bo Creech, Steve Collins, Mike McNally, and David Brotherton.
