Wendell Blake Silvers, age 72, of Erwin, passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2014, in the Unicoi County Memorial Hospital. He was born in Swannanoa, North Carolina and was a son of the late Harley and Kate Guinn Silvers. Wendell had spent most of his life in Unicoi County. He worked at the former Erwin Builders Supply and later co-owned and then owned the former Paint and Home Supply Co, Erwin. Wendell enjoyed hunting, fishing and loved to be outdoors. He attended Clear Branch Baptist Church while he was growing up and later attended Fishery Union Church. Wendell is preceded in death by a sister: Anita Silvers Sonerholm, a brother: Joel Silvers both of Las Vegas, Nevada.

The family requests the honor of your presence as we honor and remember the life of Wendell Blake Silvers in a memorial service to be at 3:00 PM, Sunday, October 19, 2014, in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Reverend Larry Wiley and Reverend David Lyle will officiate. Music will be under the direction of Gary Amos. A visitation period to share and offer support to the family will begin at 2:00 PM, Sunday and will continue until service time. The family will attend a private committal service at a later date.
