Wayne “Midnight” Shelton

Wayne “Midnight” Shelton, age 73, of Marshall, NC, passed away on Monday, February 10, 2020 while doing the job he loved, trucking.  A native of Unicoi County, Wayne is a son of the late Malcom and Bethel Ray Shelton.  Mr. Shelton served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a truck driver with Tidewater Transit and loved Nascar, animals and being a papaw.  In addition to his parents, Wayne is preceded in death by brothers, Sam Bo and Jack Shelton.

Great Grandson on the way: Charley “Lil Man” Jason Wayne Moore;

Beloved pets.

The family would like to express sincere thanks to Tidewater Trucking Company and all of Mr. Shelton’s trucker friends.

The family will offer tribute and remember the life of Wayne Shelton in a funeral service to be held at 8:00 PM, Wednesday, February 19, 2020 in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Reverend Craig Shelton will officiate. A visitation period to offer support to the family will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 from 6:00 PM and will continue until service time at Valley Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2020 at 1:00 PM in Shelton Laurel Cemetery, Marshall, NC. Those who wish to attend will meet at the cemetery by 12:50 PM on Thursday. Serving as active pallbearers will be Charley Moore, Colt Malcom Lewis, Brian Roberts, Brandon Casey, Scott Folden, and Roy Morelock. Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Casey and Austin Tipton.
