Wayne F. Ledford, age 75, 245 Bailey Circle Road, Erwin, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, surrounded by family and friends at Franklin Woods Community Hospital.
He was a lifelong resident of Erwin, the only son of Hayes and Pearl Bailey Ledford. Mr. Ledford married the love of his life, Phyllis Boone March 25, 1956. She passed away May 13, 2005.
Other than his parents and wife, Mr. Ledford was preceded in death by his grandparents: Charles and Ethel Norris Bailey and Amos and Helen McCurry Ledford.
He was a member of the Erwin Rescue Squad. Mr. Ledford was an employee of National Casket Company, and retired from Nuclear Fuel Services in 1993.
He was an avid bass fisherman and could fish the competition “under the boat”.
Survivors include two daughters: Deborah Lewis and husband, Gary, of Amarillo, Texas, Robin Grose and husband, Christopher, of Erwin; five grandsons who were the light of his life: Stephen Lewis, of Albuquerque, N.M., Matthew Lewis and Adam Lewis, of Amarillo, Texas, Chad Potter and Jacob Potter, both of Erwin; one very special aunt: Kate Bailey Henderson, of Unicoi; one uncle: Earl Bailey, of Texas and several cousins.
Entombment service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, in the Evergreen Mausoleum Chapel, with the Rev. Kevin Laws officiating.
Honorary pallbearers will be J.D. Tipton, Stanley Edwards, Hugh Barker, Howard Buchanan, Charles Tittle, Doug Congdon, Fred Bagley, and Dr. J.W. Colinger.
Friends may visit with the family at Mr. Ledford’s residence, 245 Bailey Circle Road, Erwin.
