Virginia Anders

Virginia Anders, age 94, of Erwin, passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2014, at the Unicoi County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care. She was a native of Unicoi County and a daughter of the late Hazen and Lenice Fletcher Anders. Virginia graduated in 1948 from East Tennessee State Teacher’s College. She was a life member of the P.T.A and helped establish the Unicoi County Headstart Program. She taught first grade at Martin Chapel School for 40 years. Her life revolved around her teaching and her church. Ms. Anders was a life member of Evergreen Free Will Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school, was a Sunday school assistant clerk for many years, served as treasurer, and was active in the Ladies Auxiliary. Virginia was a blue ribbon baker winner and a blue ribbon quilter’s winner at the Unicoi County Apple Festival. In addition to her parents, Virginia is preceded in death by a sister Bessie Anders, brothers and sisters-in-law Henry and O’Nell Anders, Horace and Louise Anders, Edmond Anders, and Jack Anders. .

Great Great Nieces: Tiffany Washburn, Leah Washburn, Emma Grace Anders, and Amelia Anders;
Great Great Nephews: Avin Tilson, Bryan Ledford, Walker Anders, Gabriel Ray, and Garrison Ray.

The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Virginia Anders in a funeral service to be held at 7:00 PM on Friday, December 5, 2014 at Evergreen Free Will Baptist Church, 910 Hoback Ave., Erwin, TN 37650. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 5:00 PM and continue until service time on Friday at Evergreen Free Will Baptist Church. Reverend Noah Taylor will officiate. A graveside committal service will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 10:00 AM in the Mausoleum Chapel of Evergreen Cemetery. Those who wish to attend will meet at Valley Funeral Home on Saturday by 9:30 AM to go in procession to Evergreen Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lucas Anders, Casey Anders, Zachary Anders, Drew Anders, Ivan Washburn, Terry Ledford, Tim Ray, Jessie Tilson, David Washburn, and Steve Tate. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Whitson, Mickey Whitson, Tim Whitson, Scott Whitson, Jack Lusk, Travis Lusk, Dean Wilson, Gaylon Foster, Bob Grindstaff, Walter Harris, and Ernie Deadrick. In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorial donations be made to the Ladies Auxiliary of Evergreen Free Will Baptist Church, 910 Hoback Ave., Erwin, TN 37650.
