Viola “Vee” Hensley

Viola HensleyViola “Vee” Hensley, age 89, 1405 Chestoa Pike, Erwin, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 29, 2016. She was born in Bee Log, North Carolin a and had lived in Unicoi County most of her life. Mrs. Hensley was a daughter of the late Horace G. and Emma Edwards Hensley. She had worked as a nurse for forty years prior to her retirement. Mrs. Hensley was a member of Southside Freewill Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School for many years and was very active in the church. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Orville E. Hensley on October 23, 1989, and a son, Ernest “E. J.” Hensley on February 19, 2002; one brother and two sisters.

Mrs. Hensley leaves behind to cherish her memory; one son, Jerry D. Hensley and wife, Nancy of Erwin; three grandchildren, James Hensley and wife, Lindsey of Fort Bragg, NC, Laci “J. V.” Jordan and husband, Shawn of Johnson City and Cristy Hensley; four great grandchildren, Lucas Hensley, Lily Hensley, Destry Jordan and Charli Jordan; several nieces and nephews; special church family and special neighbor, Donnie Huskins.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 A. M. Sunday, July 3, 2016 until the hour of service at the Southside Freewill Baptist Church. Reverend Kevin Laws, Reverend Charlie Trivette and Reverend Bernie Jones will officiate at the 1:00 P. M. funeral service. Music will be provided by the Southside Choir and Jane Ann Williams, pianist. Serving as pallbearers will be Darren Higgins, Randy Higgins, Bobby Ramsey, Stacy Robinson, Bobby Ayers, Patrick Bennett, Gary Phillips and Gary Ambrose. Committal service will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery.
