Viola Mae Woodby Sneyd, 91, 2865 Upper Stone Mountain Road, Unicoi died Thursday, June 2, 2011 in the Unicoi County Memorial Hospital.
She was a native of Washington County but had lived most of her life in Unicoi. Mrs. Sneyd was a daughter of the late Rev. Henderson and Margaret Headrick Woodby. She was a homemaker and attended the Baptist church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Sneyd in 1970; a daughter, Betty Smith; three sons, Robert Sneyd Jr., Bradley Sneyd and Buddy Sneyd; her twin sister, Violet Campbell; two grandsons, Bobby Sneyd and Clarence Hyder.
Survivors include five daughters: Barbara Lyons, Johnson City, Karen Smith, Johnson City, Bea Caldwell and her husband, Tommy of Unicoi, Bonnie Hyder and husband, Herman, and Betsy Garland and husband, Guy all of Limestone Cove; three sons: Ray Smith and Douglas Hyder both of Limestone Cove and Jerry Anderson of Johnson City, whom she thought of as her son; a brother: Nathan Woodby and his wife, Lucy; four sisters: Dorothy Kirk of Illinois, Bessie Hill, Unicoi, Mamie Kimbrell and Judy Street, whom she also thought of as her sister, both of Johnson City; five granddaughters: Crystal Collins, Lisa Bennett, Carolyn Lyons, Susie Stevenson and Teresa Goins; three grandsons: Todd Caldwell, Terry Sneyd and Richard Garland; a special great-granddaughter, Ambrosia Bennett; Special friends, Elsie Garland, Roxie Whittamore, Lurly Penland and Helen Ferguson; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Sneyd, were conducted at 7 p.m., Sunday, June 5, in the Woodall-Anderson and Dugger Funeral Home with the Rev. B.F. McKinney officiating.
Graveside services were held at 2: p.m., Monday, June 6, in the Woodby Hill Cemetery, Limestone Cove.
Pallbearers were Chris Bennett, Joseph Smith, Benny Hughes, Bobby Jack Davis, Guy Garland, Rocky Cochran and Haley Hyder.
Woodall-Anderson and Dugger Funeral Home was in charge.
