Trula Mae Wilson Ramsey, 86 died Thursday Aug., 18, 2011. Mrs. Ramsey was a native of Yancey County, N.C., but had resided in Erwin for most of her life. She was a daughter of the late Thomas Austin and Nola McIntosh Wilson.
Mrs. Ramsey was a member of Pilgrim FWB Church. She retired from Morrill Motors as a machine operator after several years of employment. She enjoyed visiting with her friends and family as well as gardening and bird feeding.
Other than her parents, Mrs. Ramsey was preceded in death by her husband, Tate Ernest Ramsey, in December of 1997, a son, James Austin Ramsey, in 2006, and two brothers, Clarence and Hurley Wilson.
Survivors include one daughter: Joyce Willis and husband, Roger, Erwin; two grandchildren: Bethany Morris and Natalie Willis, both of Erwin; two great grandchildren: Tate Kerns and Annslie Morris; three brothers: Harry Wilson and wife, Sylvia, and Hoover Wilson, both of Erwin; Ford Wilson and wife, Shirley, Unicoi; one sister: Milan Higgins, Elizabethton; sister-in-law: Opal Love, Erwin; numerous nieces and nephews and her beloved labrador, Katie.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday Aug., 20, in the Robert Ledford Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Danny Hughes officitaed. Special music was provided by Tim Higgins and Belve Sanders.
Active pallbearers selected by the family were Tim and Larry Higgins, Belve Sanders, Russ Segler, Charles Peake, and William McCurry. Honorary pallbearers were Arnold Foster and Frankie Tipton.
Interment was in the Roselawn Memory Gardens.
Robert Ledford Funeral Home was in charge.
