T. L. Corby Sr

T. L. Corby Sr., 85 of West Chester, formerly of Erwin, died Tuesday Sept. 11, 2012, at the Southeastern Veterans Center in Spring City.
Born in Limestone, he was the son of the late Dewey Corby and the late Anna Mae Griffith Corby.
He was a member of Goodwill Fire Company. He was an avid golfer, fisherman and also loved watching his family drag race in NHRA competitions.
Mr. Corby was a U.S. Army veteran, serving his country during WW II.
He was preceded in death by sister, Eunice Jones.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Nancy A. Corby (Tipton); children: Charlene Ciccarone of West Chester, Terry Corby Jr. of West Chester, Michael Corby of Atlanta, Ga.; brother: J.B. Griffith and wife, Eva, of Erwin; grandchildren: Tom Jr., Julie, Megan, Caleb, Jared, Cassie, John, Rebakah; great-grandchildren: Lily, Whitney, Dominic, and Victoria; brother-in-law: Tom Jones of Jonesborough; special niece and nephew: Sue Tittle, Frank Jones and longtime friends: Willie Hilton and Frank Lucas
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Sept. 15, at 7:30 p.m., in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. The Rev. Brian Griffith and the Rev. Glenn Michael Griffith officiated. Vocal selections were provided by Jeff and Nola Peterson.
The committal service was held Sunday, Sept. 16, at 1 p.m., at Evergreen Cemetery with military honors provided by the Tennessee Army National Guard Honor Guard and the Unicoi County High School Jr. ROTC.
Members of the UCHS Jr. ROTC served as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Delaware Branch 100 W. 10th St., Wilmington, DE 19801.
