Stella Edwards Kaywood, age 70, Mohawk Drive, Erwin, died Friday, Aug. 17, 2012, at the Center on Aging and Health.
She was a lifelong resident of Erwin and a daughter of the late Arthur and Ada Price Edwards. Mrs. Kaywood attended Unaka Springs Free Will Baptist Church.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by one grandson: Daniel Scott Banner; four brothers: Dennis Edwards, Junior Edwards, Dewitt Edwards, and Francis Edwards; former husband: Gail Brose Banner.
Survivors include her husband: Paul Kaywood, Erwin; three children: Teresa Banner and fiancé, Kenneth Pickering, Scottie Banner, both of Erwin, and Joyce Sams and husband Freddy, Unicoi; five grandchildren: William Allen Higgins and wife Jackie, Erwin, Freddy Sams Jr., Erwin, Joshua Scott Sams, Unicoi, Renia Banner, Church Hill, and Iris Banner, Erwin; two great grandsons: Dalton Allen Higgins and Bailey Charles Higgins, Erwin; four brothers: Dewey Edwards and wife Janet, Everett Edwards and wife Louise, Clyde Edwards, Estil Edwards and wife Dorothy, all of Erwin; four sisters: Della Chandler and husband Paul, Unicoi, Gail Nickels and husband Jimmy, Blanche Foster, Vivian Kinko and husband Bryan, all of Erwin; numerous nieces and nephews; special caregivers: Kim Van Huss, Theresa Street, and Amber Bowman; special friend: Bettie Metcalf.
Funeral service was held at 1 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 19, in the Robert Ledford Funeral Home and Chapel. The Rev. Danny Hughes officiated.
Interment followed in Unaka Springs Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were her son: Scott Banner, grandsons: Billy Higgins, Freddie Sams Jr., and Joshua Sams, son-in-law: Freddie Sams, daughter’s fiancé, Kenneth Pickering, and brother-in-law, Bryan Kinko.
