Shirley Jean Phillips, age 79, of Erwin, was called home on Monday, February 6, 2017, at Unicoi County Memorial Hospital. Shirley was a native of Mitchell County, NC and was a daughter of the late Howard and Leva Honeycutt Presnell. She attended the Assembly of God when she was able. She never met a stranger and loved meeting new people. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Benny Phillips; sons: Jerry Wayne Phillips and Ronnie Phillips; grandson: Benjamin Phillips.

The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Shirley Jean Phillips in a committal service to be held on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Evergreen Cemetery. Reverend Kim Casey will officiate. Vocal selections will be provided by the Casey family. Pallbearers will be Kevin Smith, Terry Shelton, Shawn Phillips, Thomas Presnell, Bubba Cole and Sonny Brotherton.
